Fix code 10 Error This Device Cannot Start

Some Code 10 Error situations: 

This Device Cannot Start

  • Device Manager can't start the device.
  • One of the drivers that the device needs does not start.
  • Device Manager has insufficient information to recognize the error that is bubbled up by the device driver.
Fixing Code 10 error for USB devices:

 If you have plugged in a USB device into a computer or laptop and it does not work, here are some basic troubleshooting steps to fix the problem:

Method 1:
 Plug the USB device into a different computer and install the drivers to see if it works there.
 If it does not work in a different computer, then the problem is most likely with the device itself.

Method 2:
 If you are using a USB cable with your device, Swap cables and check the device.

Method 3:
  Open Device Manager and look for USB Serial Bus Controllers. If there is a device with a yellow exclamation mark next to it such as USB Mass Storage Device.
 Double-click on the entry and check the Device Status. If the status is like
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)" then:
1. Uninstall the drivers for the device 
2. Remove the device from the USB port and reboot your computer. 
3. Plug-in the USB device and let Windows reinstall the drivers.

 If above steps does not solve the problem try the steps below to remove and reinstall all USB controllers:
1. Right-Click on the Windows logo
2. Click on Device Manager.
3. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers section. 
4. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click uninstall device to remove them one at a time.

5. Restart the computer, and allow the computer to reinstall the USB controllers. 
6. Plug in the removable USB device, and then test to make sure that the problem is resolved.


Other methods:

#1:Update device driver from Windows Update or Install the updates that are specific to the computer or to the device.

#2: Run USB troubleshooters:
